shih_tzu  (View posts) Posted: 6 May 2000 12:46PM GMT
I am looking for information on my grandmothers family.
Her name was Sylvania Guinn, she married Daniel Mullins (s/o James and Emily "Millie"Mullins).

Her parents were Mac Cager and Mary Mullins Guinn. she is the daughter of Elias and Sylvania Watts Mullins.

all the information I have on Mac Cager Guinn is his parents are James Guinn and Polly Mary Ann Nease Guinn. Then I have a Drew Guinn this is where I get stuck.
any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I lost my grandmother in Janurary and started this search after she died. I have been told that we have native american blood. I want to know where it comes from.

Thanks a bunch

Kathy

DONNA,
I AM ALSO TRYING TO FIND INFORMATION ON GUINN'S IN OKLAHOMA.. MY GRANDFATHER'S NAME IS RICHARD GUINN AND I THINK THAT HE LIVES IN KANSAS NOW. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE QUITE A FEW GUINNS IN WESTVILLE, OKLAHOMA AND I WENT TO A HUGE FAMILY REUNION THERE LAST SUMMER AND FOUND OUT A LITTLE. I DON'T KNOW IF THESE ARE THE SAME FAMILY MEMBERS THAT YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU WERE PART OF MY FAMILY. I WOULD LOVE TO MEET SOME OF THEM SOME DAY.. PLEASE REPLY..

Though there are several Guinn's in the Westville area, there are also many in Tahlequah and Muskogee area. Not all are related. Some came out of Arkansas, some from Tennessee. I have been researching my line for years and can't track the ones from Arkansas. My grandfather was John Harvey Guinn

Native American Blood on the Guinn's

Kathy,
There are several Guinn's showing Cherokee Blood line. Tahlequah Oklahoma is full of them. Also, if you contact the Oklahoma Historical Society they can help you on your search to see if you connect. (They are in Oklahoma City, Ok.) Guinn's are my line too but can't find a connection to the Cherokee Blood line.
Happy Hunting
Sandy

THANK YOU

Guinns in OK

Philip:

Here is a short history of my family. I hope that it helps.

My father's father was Eli A. Guinn, born in Conway, Arkansas in 1880.
He had four brothers, three of whom were named Henry, Tom and John B.
Guinn. My father's mother's maiden name was Harp.

My father, Fillmore Chesley Guinn, was born in Vamoosa, OK in 1911 and
shortly after he was born the family moved to Guthrie. They continued
to move around some and lived in Muskogee, Konawa and finally settled in
Ada.

He had one half brother named Eli A. Guinn, Jr. who was a career
military man. As you would expect, he moved around quite a bit but returned to
Ada when he retired.

My dad and my mother, Sibyl Lee Hubbert, were Ada High School
sweethearts, married in 1937 and moved to Houston due to the lack of career
opportunities in Ada. I was born in 1939 and my brother, Bartley M. Guinn in 1941 in
Houston.
