I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge about these two surnames. I am trying to find any existing relatives in these towns with these surnames, or perhaps the meanings of these names.

My great-grandfather Lazaros Siskos was born in Delvine and had a sister. Lazaros moved to Filiates, a town in Epirus, and his sister moved to Athens. They were orphans.

My grandfather's surname was Kottis. I was wondering if anyone has any leads to this surname, and if they know anyone with this surname currently residing in Vithkuq, the town of origin.

Thank you so much for that information! I will definitely try to contact these families.

I am assuming that you are Albanian, so perhaps you can answer these questions for me....Is the last name Kottis Greek or is it Albanian? I know that Siskos is an ethnic Greek name...but I don't know about Kottis.

I was also wondering if Vithkuq was ever part of Northern Epirus, or it it was always part of Albania. If you could answer these questions for me, or direct me to somewhere where I could find out it would be a great help. Thank you!

Yes for your information i am albanian.
Koti in albanian means empty(nothing).
I am not sure what you call Northern Epirus but i can tell you that Vithkuq is part of albania and it is very close to the city of Korca.

I'm sorry for the delayed response. What I mean about Northern Epirus is the area that was once Greek, but is now Albanian. I don't want to get into the politics because I know many people are sensitive about it. I was just wondering if perhaps these are Muslim surnames, or Greek Orthodox ones....or if people living in this area are Orthodox or Muslim.

I also wanted to ask you if you know anything about the surname Sioutis. Family legend has it that there were five brothers with the last name Sioutis that came down from Albania and settled near Igoumenitsa, Greece...in Epirus. Do you have any record of people living in Albania with that surname? I am in the process of contacting the other people (Kottis) that you have given me! Any information you could provide would be a great help!

I know people whose last name is albania is now "shiko" but was "sikos" before the second world war. They are ethnic greek and they came from Delvine, more precisely a village near Delvine called something like Kakodik. A person I know is Thoma Shiko(SIKO(s)) and his phone is 355-42-46687
