You may want to try the Salem County Historical Society in Salem. They are on-line. They do carry info. from newpapers in the 19th & 20th centuries. However, I'm not sure how late in the 20th century they end.

If they don't have what you're looking for, it may be that they can steer you in the right direction, as to who may carry them. Maybe the NJ Archives in Trenton

What "tragic accident are you speaking of in Salem about 20 years ago? Are you speaking in Salem County or the city of Salem it self? I was born and raised in Pennsville, Salem County and have realatives all over the county. I have had quit a few tragic accidents in my branches. I use to have the paper sent to me but got to expensive on my budget. Perhaps I may have a copy of the accident that you are speaking of.

There was a family of five killed in front of the Inspection Station in Sept. of 1986. They were stopped to turn into the inspection station and someone rear ended them and pushed them head on into oncoming traffic. Mother, Father and three children all killed.
