I am still on the search for parents and/or siblings of Charles Newton Rains. He was born July 21,1874 in Okmulgee, OK. I can't seem to find his parents. He had children with Josephine Ellenor Roland (Rains, Martin) they were never married. Even though the census' state they were. He died before July of 1930 as Josie was a widow, but I am not sure when. Josie was born March 5, 1885 in Collin County, Texas and died Aug 16, 1959 in Dallas, Texas. On Charles Rains' WWI draft card, his nearest relative is Mrs B E Smothers of Abiline, Taylor, Texas...but I can't find any info on her...Any help would be greatly appreciated!

B. E. Smothers was enumerated as the wife of F. M. Smothers in Abilene, Taylor Co. TX in 1920. There is a marriage record for F. M. Smothers to Mrs. B. E. Rains on 13 Jan 1892 in Comanche Co. TX. The 1930 census shows her name as Beda E. -- She may be the Bedia Tyre who married Samuel R. Rains on 7 Oct 1880 in Comanche Co. I hope this helps in your search.
