Trying to find out if there was an Alms House in Middlesex Co.
near Monroe Twp. or possible a burial ground for the poor?

Looking fo Stacy Lawyer. 1850 Census lists him as age 85 and a pauper. He is living with 11 other people on George McDowell's farm.

Thanks, Mandy

I'm searching for information on the same Stacy Lawyer. Do you know if he is Asa Lawyer's father?
Asa was my Great-great-grandfather. I have good information on Asa and descendents. Asa's youngest son, john Alfred, was my great-grandfather, and his son, Alva Herman was my Grandfather. His older son, William Alfred was my father. William, Alva, and John are all buried in the same cemetery in Wheeling, West Virginia. I've visited Asa's grave in Indiana also.
I'm also looking for a George Lawyer who was the son of Joseph B. Lawyer who may be Asa's brother. You mention Joseph in anothe rpost. Any information on him?

Bob,

This is all the info I have on my Stacy Lawyer. I have been stuck on him because I can't seem to find him anywhere except in the 1850 census. The only reason that I'm sure he is my Joseph's father is because he is listed on Joseph's marriage record. Sorry I can't be of more help. Mandy

Stacy Lawyer b. abt 1765 d. aft 1850
I found him in the 1850 Census- Monroe Twp., Middlesex Co., NJ. Stacy Lawyer, age 85, b. NJ. Pauper

It's believed that Stacy Lawyer may be the son of Michael Lawyer/ Layer and Elizabeth Dove and brother of John and William Lawyer.

Stacy's son, Joseph is my GGG-grandfather:
Joseph Lawyer, Sr. b. abt 1789 in NJ d. abt 1864 in Monmouth Co, NJ married Rebecca Stewart in 1812 and Mary (Parker) Matthews in 1853.
His marriage record shows Parents: Stacey & Ann Lawyer

It's also believed that Stacy children may include, Asa, George and Elizabeth Lawyer

Joseph Lawyer (Father- Stacy, Mother Ann)
Possible siblings are; Asa Lawyer, George & Elizabeth

m1. Rebecca Stewart 1812, Hanover Twp., Burl. Co., NJ.
m2. Mary Parker/Mathews 1853 New Hanover Twp, Burl. Co. d. abt. 1864 in Monmouth Co., NJ

I believe the following are his children: (with Rebecca)
