I drive past both of those almost everyday. Taylor must be Taylor Memorial United Methodist church, I guess. Both are older cemeteries. Who specifically are you looking for?

I am trying to index as much of these cemeteries as possible. I have quite a few relatives in both cemeteries. I haven't been able to find anywhere they have been compiled.

Have you checked with the Churches' offices--Taylor United Methodist and First Baptist Chalkville?
Also, The Southern Historical Library in Birmingham has most of the state's cemetries indexed or published in books. Have you checked with them? Sandra Lee is over that library, she would be glad to point you in the right direction.

Hoping some of y'all are still researching these Chandlers in Jefferson Co, AL. My dad was born in New Castle and we have roots in the Chalkville area as well. Through DNA testing I find that I am really a Chandler. So where did we come from and when was the paternal line changed from Chandler to Jernigan?

I am Group 7A in the Y-chromosome DNA Project of the Chandler Family Association. Group 7A has been traced (through documentation as well as DNA) back to Robert Chandler strongly believed to have been a grandson of John Chandler who arrived in Jamestown aboard the ship Hercules in 1610. My Family Tree DNA # is 109219. You can see my results on the project's web page under Group 7A. My earliest documented ancestor is my gg-grandfather, James Silas Jernigan, whose origins remain a mystery.

Love to hear from anyone who might point me in the right direction.

In Chalkville Cemetery I am related to Carlise, Rotton & Stubbs.

This is my direct line after the patriarch Richard Carlisle from South Carolina:

His son, Edward James Carlisle to daughter, Nancy Carlisle who married Joseph Lindsey. Their son, William Joseph Lindsey married Ada Margaret Trucks. Their daughter, Ella Mae Lindsey married Franklin Henry "Frank" or "F.H." Jernigan. They were my great-grandparents.

If you will go to www.interment.net, then United States, then Alabama, then Jefferson County, you will find a survey posted of Taylor's Chapel (Taylor United Methodist Church) Cemetery.

If you visit findagrave.com, you will find two Taylor Cemeteries in the Birmingham area. I checked the list for the one beside Taylor United Methodist Church. I didn't see any Chandlers, but there are several for Moncrief. You may want to check those out as well as the other Taylor Cemetery.
