Trouble finding death dates for great-grandparents

Classification: Death
Surnames: Clark Raetzmann
My great grand parents are:
Albert Henry Clark (b. 20 May 1873, Baraboo or Reedsburg) Wisconsin) and Meta L. Clark (b. 25 Dec 1878 Reedsburg, Wisconsin, maiden name Raetzmann)

I am having no luck finding date of death for either. I know that they eventually lived in Washington, D.C. I found a letter dated Aug 1959 sent to Albert's son Henry about the death of his father. My guess is he died some time in 1959.

My Uncle thinks Albert died in New York, my Dad thinks Arizona. No ideas about Meta.

The only info I found is this link but the information, DOB, e.g. is incorrect and based on the letter I mentioned, date of death is also incorrect.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,

Found Metas obit in the Washington Post.

My guess is he is buried where she is.

Carol, you are awesome! Thanks so much. Between Google, Ancestry, Genealogy Bank, I've come up dry. The only thing I came up with recently was that she wasn't listed in the 1940 census so I knew she died somewhere between 1930 and 40.

I have a letter that indicates that Albert died in or just before Aug '59. Just surprised neither have shown up in the SS index.

Thanks again!
Jim

Hi again, can you tell me what resource/site you used? I tried legacy.com wash post obits, but they only have obits going back to 2001. Gen. Bank only until 1977. Did you use something like: http://newspaperarchive.com/ ?

Thanks again!

Hi Jim,

My pleasure to find Meta for you!

www.deathindexes.com/districtofcolumbia/index/html
is the site for DC obits 1877-1990. Also this is
on Ancestry.

Thank you! I was actually on this page some time ago, tried family search but I obviously missed the Wash Post/ancestry link! Now off to find Albert. Thanks again!
