I am looking for ancestors of my grandmother Geharda Henriette Vorster. She was born in Deventer, Netherlands on April 16 1912. She married a Willem van der Zijl who was born in 1911 and died in 1944. They lived in Indonesia for a time during the Japanese invasion. Before this occurred however, they divorced. I believe my grandfather was killed during the war. My grandmother, father (Ernst van der Zijl) and another younger son were in concentration camps.

The only other information I have about my grandmother Geharda is she returned to Holland after the war. She remarried a Rudolph Jansen and came to Canada. She and Rudolph had 2 daughters.

Gerharda Henriette Vorster was born in Deventer on 16 Apr 1912 at 03.00 hrs, daughter of Johannes Theodorus Vorster, insurer, and Clasina Zijdveld.

Thank you for this link. I have been able to trace my ancestry back through his family as far back as the 18th century but I did not have this bit of information. It is minor but a big deal to me. However I am looking for my information about his wife Gerharda Henriette Vorster. I would like to trace back through her line to complete my family tree.

I had not received what I was looking for. I got a link for my paternal grandfather's military burial. I am looking for his wife's ancestors. All I have so far is her parents, their years of birth and the date of their marriage. I am hoping to go further back than that.

Then go to the data base www.genlias.nl and put in the grand parents parents names and you will go bacvk further.........If you have her parents marriage record that contains her parents mother and father, Then take hyer grandparebts names and get her great grandparents.
