Borovica?

I have document from 1924 from Sarajevo where it is written "Borovica, Poland". My question is this: Is it possible that places near border with Poland were at that time considered to be in Poland?
It is my ancestor Wladyslaw Gruszecki who was born there in 1856, drafted to K.u.K. train unit in Bosnia. Document from 1924 is his wife's death certificate.
tnx

It is possible that what it was in Poland in 1924 it still is in Poland in 2010.
No V in Polish alphabet; no W in Czech.
GRUSZECKI spelling does seem Polish.

Thank you very much. I hope you've noticed I mentioned that he was drafted to Austrian army. Was that Borowice you reffered to, part of Austro-Ungarian empire?

Thank you, ZBeca. It is intresting that of all vojvodeships on the geneteka map, only Dolnoslaskie doesn't have working link. I clicked and browsed all of them the other day, not knowing which one was under Austria, couldn't find him. Didn't noticed that that link didn't work.

Dolno means Lower and Slaskie - Silesia.
Unfortunately, even this site not showing church records of Borowice.

Nothing in LDS-Mormons [Family History Center] as well. Do post on Poland's board as that board should be able to direct you further with your research.

Borovice, Tchech [Mor. something]

I have treads on Poland's board, one for each Borowice in question. I didn't find a way so far to map historical maps to todays map. In this tread I'm interested in 2 Borovice people sugested me, that are in part of Silesia that is in Chech Republic today, (no 11 on austro-hungary map). There were massive change of borders those days. My country looked totaly different, too. I would like to find out was it possible by someone in *that time* (between 2 w wars) to consider that place to be in Poland. Maybe someone is familiar with tchech databases and can drop a link, or e-adress of Opava archive or something.

could this map of Silesia help?
http://feefhs.org/maplibrary/german/ge-siles.html
I am leaning toward the Borowice, Poland not Borovice, Czech Republic. Why? No V in Polish alphabet and now W in Czech, Slovak, Croatian or Slovenian, right. Since the record was written in former Yugoslavia [forgot the location you mentioned] than it was written in that country's alphabet.
2 Borovices in Czech Republic one by Domazlice and one by Mlada Boleslav. To me neither of them are in historical Silesia or close to Poland's border.

Amusing links, ZBeca! thank you so very much!
I'm aware of V/W everything you said. "V" only means that it is in current Chech Rep., nothing else.

Map is gorgeous!! I'm geografically challenged.
Notice area no 11 here

I wish i could post links to those 2 Borovice near Poland's border, but I don't remeber what was the site. One is near Dolnoslaskie, and other is Borovica near Opolskie/Slaskie border, more to the left.
Thank you so much on these great links.
