anyone local familiar with layout of Holy Cross Cemetery?

I am wondering if someone in the Butte area could help me with info on the layout of the Holy Cross Cemetery. I am trying to find out if that cemetery includes a memorial for unborn babies, a "Tomb of the Unborn" or any memorial to abortion victims. There is a news story circulating to that effect, and if someone locally in the area could confirm or discard that report, it would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

It's funny you mention this as my mother told me she heard about this a while ago as well and how prostesters have trying to say its ironic considering the people on the plane's connections to abortion clinics. We live in Butte and have both been to Holy Cross many, many times over the years. While there is a small "babytown" sort of section for small children, and I believe there is even a large monument stone with a Bible passage on it for the section (some psalm or something - I think it has a lamb and shephard on it) - as a memorial for dead children in general, I am almost positive that it makes no mention of abortions specifically. I think the memorial is more aimed towards infants that were miscarried, stillborn, died shortly after birth, and other sorts of things like that - aimed maybe towards children that didn't get the chance to be baptized. Holy Cross is a Catholic cemetery and I just cannot imagine that a memorial to abortion victims specifically would sit well, but I could be wrong.

I can't say for sure, as I haven't been to the cemetery since hearing this ot check things, but I think this might be a case of things being take slightly out of context.

In the meantime, I'd be really interested in hearing what anyone else has to say, as I'm really curious about this as well.

I received this email too about that memorial from the anti-abortion protester. I find it appalling that that woman received some sort of gratification in the fact that 14 people died, including 7 children because one person on board she claimed owned a building that--along with other medical offices--abortions were supposedly performed in. How does anyone even know if this is true? To suggest that there is some sort of delicious irony involved in this horrid accident is to suggest that the hand of God was involved because of the memorial to small babies (she said it was located on church grounds, and not in the cemetery I believe). Well, I think not! The young woman who is responsible for this posting on her website should go out and find herself a real job and forget about blogging.

I, too, think the memorial would be for miscarred babies or babies and children who died from various causes. Shame on that blogger!

I went out to Holy Cross yesterday and it turns out I was wrong. There is indeed a “Babyland” section of the cemetery, like I thought, but there is a small monument stone inside it that says, “HOLY ANGELS SECTION - IN HONOR AND PRAYERFULL REMEMBERANCE OF ALL CHILDREN BURIED HERE, AS WELL AS THOSE DENIED LIFE THRU ABORTION NOT HERE BUT LIVING WITH GOD.”

It is in the back, center part of the cemetery, though, and not (as I believe the report was) within feet of the accident. I took a couple of photos and am going to see if they’ll upload with this. In case the attachments don’t come through, here are two links to the photos I uploaded onto an image hosting web site.

This is a close up of the monument:

This is another photo taken back further with the tree next to where the accident happened circled in yellow for perspective:

Hope this helps.
