I just came across your 10/27/2002 request for information on Arthur
Augustus Whittemore who married
Blanche Lynn 12/30/1901 in Devil's Lake, ND. I too am looking for this same information!
Here is what I know: From the 1880 US Census (
Chippewa, Minn.), I found the following: that L. A. Whittemore was born abount 1850 in
Maine and he married Eliza who was born about 1849 in
New York. In 1880, they had 3 children: (1) Arthur
Whittemore, born about 1874 in Minn., (2) Guy
Whittemore, born about 1875 in Minn., and (3) Frederick
Whittemore, born about 1878 in Minn.
I am looking to confirm (1) whether this Arthur is the Arthur
Augustus Whittemore who married
Blanche Lynn and (2) if he is the Dr. A. A. Whittemore of
Bismark ND who wrote and published "Genealogy of the
Livermore Falls (Minn.) Branch of the
Whittemore Family" in 1925. I am also looking for a copy of this book or the
Whittemore genealogy it describes, as I have at least two generations that lived in
Livermore Falls, Minn.
If this Arthur (son of L. A. Whittemore) is the same as the Arthur
Augustus Whittemore, I am looking to confirm that L. A. Whittemore is a son of the first marriage of
Augustus Alonzo Whittemore (my great-great grandfather) to a wife whose name I do not know. Children of
Augustus Alonzo Whittemore and
Hannah A. Stevens (married Oct. 20, 1959 in
Livermore Falls) were
Drew Stevens Whittemore (my great grandfather), John H. Whittemore, Grace A. Whittemore, and Minnie
Whittemore (who died with her mother at or near childbirth). Children of
Augustus Alonzo Whittemore and Elma (married in 1868 or 1869) were Mary
Whittemore and Eugene
Whittemore.
I understand the
Augustus Alonzo Whittemore's father is
Alpheus Whittemore and his father is Ebenezer
Whittemore and I am despirately looking for specific confirmation of this with dates of birth, death and marriages and with names of other siblings.
