I believe the cause of death entry says :

"Phthisis
9 months
certified by
R. (un-readable)
M.D."

Phthisis is no longer used as a cause of death and appears to be a general term for a wasting disease, usually tuberculosis, but possibly any other problem that makes the body degenerate over time. That is why they have shown "9 months" to indicate the length of time it has occurred over. Medical science was less precise then than it is now.

A mantle is usually a cloak designed to go over your other clothes. So she was probably some type of seamstress.

Profession of "Mantle Maker" had nothing to do with be a seamstress.
A mantle maker machined mantles for gas lamps. The mantle was made of impregnated metal nitrates and Thorium dioxide a highly toxic and radioactive substance.
Without the use of breathing apparatus protection while working in this environment you would be exposed to the toxic particles.

Phthisis, or lung disease was one of the more common causes of death when Mary Ann died.
Occupations, such as hers, were most likely contributory. "Stone Cutters",(masonry workers), died from this disease from the inhalation of dust.
