Vogt

Tracy Heffentrager  (View posts) Posted: 3 Sep 1999 1:50PM GMT
My husband's grandfather is a Vogt. I am attempting to locate a line of Vogts in Philadelphia. If anyone has info on this line, plz email me. We have zero documents on the family lineage and are starting from scratch.

To Tracy heffentrager;
You may find the last name of Vogt was changed to the name Fite, in the mid to late 1700's. Three brothers, Johannes, Hans Jacob, and Heinrich Vogt landed in Philidelphia on 28 Sept. 1749, on the ship "Ann"
I have a letter from a decendent indicating that Johannes Voght, settled in Lancaster County approx. 1750, the other brothers may have moved on. Johannes had a son Peter, who is on the 1774 tax rolls of Providence Twp, Pa.
I am currently having trouble finding the missing link between Peter and my Great (4th) grandfather, John Fite. Should you have any luck in further investigation into the Vegt's please be so kind as to let me know.
Thanks.

John Fite

Thanks for the reply.
My 5X Grand-father was John Fite, born April 11, 1817.
Married Hannah Wright. Both are at Penn-Hill Cementary, in Southern Lancaster County, Pa.
My problem is, that is where the trail stops. I have found a Peter Fite (Fight) on the tax rolls of
Providence Twp, Pa.(about 10 miles from Penn Hill)in about 1775. I suspect he is my 6X grandfather.
But I can't prove it. Hope you have some input. Thanks. David.

Vogt's in Philadelphia!

Tracy, I too have been trying to find Vogt's in Phila. My GGGrandfather was William Richard Vogt b. 1863. Acording to my grandmother, who is still alive at 90 yrs. old, he had a meat packing compay (Vogt meat packing) until the 1930's. They were bought out by Habbersets (As in scrapple)! William had two daughters Mary Amilia Vogt who married Julius Albert Stolpe and Viola Vogt.
I think I can go back farther if you are interested. email me at mpeifer@nmia.com.

Millie, thanks for the info you sent on the Vogts...I remember my husband's grandfather mentioning something about a meat plant in the family. I will be getting in touch with you in the future.

Rudolf Vogt in Philadelphia

It has been some time since you posted your original message and I was hoping maybe you could help me. Have you come across any information on a Rudolf Vogt b. about 1886? He was the son of Rudolf and Mary Vogt. Mary later married William McDonald and young Rudolf last name was changed. He died in 1921 and is buried with his mother - both under the name McDonald.
