I am trying to find information on my mothers family. They immigrated to Canada in 1927. There was my grandfather Vasile, grandmother Eugenia (nee Bedrii?) uncle Iwan and mother Ovesta. They have their last name spelled Tkaciuk on the immigration records, but, spelled it TKACHUK. My mother's birth certificate has Romania on it. From what I can figure she was born in Lejeuni. Once in Canada, they took on Canadian first names and were known as William, Jenny, John and Alice. There were two more children born in Canada - Alec who changed his last name to Tracy and Margaret.I know nothing about my grandfathers' family, but my grandmothers' maiden name was Bedrii (Canadian Bedry). She had 4 sister- Vera, Mary, June and Stella and 3 brothers, Steve, William and Frank. My mother always thought there may be relatives of her father in Two Hills or Vegreville, Alberta. Does any ot this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks,

I'm not sure if this helps but my great great grandfather's name was Vasile Tkachuk, his son my great grandfather was Musho (Mike) Tkachuk and his son my grandfather was Bill (William) Kachuk -- Mike emigrated in 1905 --- anyway our family settled @ 10 miles north of Hairy Hill Alberta (in what was called Boian which was so named as it was the same as the village the family came from in the old country) & that's between Willingdon & Two Hills Alberta (actually part of Two Hills County) and a half hour drive north of Vegreville. The only book I know of listing the family is called Eagle Tail Hill or something to that effect which lists the family -- hope this helps
