Does anyone know the origin of the Hamam name and perhaps have information on the tribe from which the name is derived? My Grandfather was born in 1879 in Akka, Syria.
I understand that the name originates from the Saiegh and Ablah tribes. If anyone has information or knows a source where I can obtain that information, it will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Janice, I am Nijad Hammam, a Lebanese living in London. 'Hamam' I think is a Jordanian family. The word 'Hamam' means 'Dove'! There was a Skandar (or Iskandar) Hamam at the American University of Beirut back in my time there in the 1960s. Best regards, Nijad
