Surnames: Barrett, Cobb, Parker
My great grandmother was Melinda Cobb born October 17, 1840 in an unknown location. Died in granby Missouri August 11, 1906. She married Charles Abbott Parker in 1867. Their son Charles E. Parker was born October 20, 1868 in St. Louis Missouri. Charles was killed in a mine accident in Granby, Missouri May 1, 1909 leaving my grandmother with three girls to raise by herself. Melinda's father was William Cobb who was married to Tempee. I am seeking any additional information regarding these individuals and their ancestors.

Sorry, Pam, but I don't know where the William Cobb came from orginially. The census of 1880 in Newton County, Missouri lists my great great grandmother Malinda Cobb's mother as being from Pennsylvania and her father from Arkansas. I have Malinda's birth date as October 17, 1840 and from family records have her parents as William Cobb and Tempee but no other information. I'm working to track them down.

Correction.. my gg grandfather Albert Thompson Cobb was born Mar 1840, 42 or 45 in Orleans County New York. Albert enlisted in the 12th Michigan Infantry ( Dowagiac) but was too young ( Thus all the confusion on his birthdates. His parents had him brought back home), so waiting until he was almost of age again he enlisted in the Michigan 19th Infantry (Wayne) where he fought until he was injured and then he enlisted in Michigan's 1st Cavalary where he fought until the end of the Civil War. He later married and settled in Iowa for a number of years (although there is reason to believe he traveled between Indiana and Illinois off and on) before moving to a old soldiers military home in Danville Illinois where he died in Dec of 1907. He is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee Iowa. I'm sorry I can't fill in more of the blanks but I'm still working on it. When Albert moved to Danville all traces of him were destoyed by my gg grandmother Olive Cobb. I have been told Albert had family in Illinois at the time of his death but I'm still trying to find parents and then will know who siblings were. I don't know if this changes anything but I will keep you up to date from time to time. Maybe there is some relation. I just can't say right now. Keep in touch!
Pam

Pam,

I just ran across your 2002 posting about your gg Albert T. Cobb. He's my great-grandfather and I would like to trade info with you.

Albert & Olive (Woodworth) had a son George Oran who had a son Donald George who had a son Donald Lawrence (that's me).

My father died when I was six. When I was 11 my Mother remarried a Daniel Boone who adopted me - hence my last name is no longer Cobb.

I have a lot of info on Olive, but not so much on Albert except I think his Father's initials were M.S.

I would look forward to hearing from you.

albert T Cobb is my husband's great grandfather through his son Charles Clarence Cobb. I would love to trade information and discover who the parents of Albert were.
