I am looking for information on Any descendants or Ancestors of Johann Poppenhagen, my 3rd great grandfather from Schwaan, Meck. Born June 1827. Immigrated to U.S in 1857. Citizenship in Indiana in 1874.

I don't know if we are related, but I have a Christ Poppenhagen married to a Sophia Lempke. THey were born in Germany in July 1841, and Feb 1843, respectively. They immigrated to Millard, Douglas Co, NE in 1865. They 1900 census states they had 17 children, 8 of which survived. Sohpia's obit. was published Jan 18, 1907. There is a possibility that Christ owned a Saloon Dance Hall in Millard. I know of 4 children, Ella, Johanna Whilamina Christina*, Chrissie (male), and Charles. Johanna married Nels David Johnson in 1901 in Millard. Johanna was bord jun 18, 1881 in millard and died in Orchard, Antelope Co, NE 23 Dec. 1964. I have some more information, so if anyone thinks we might be connected, please drop me a line...I'm more than willing to share.

It's been a while since anybody posted to this thread, but I've just started my ancestry work and would like to add to it. I show Sophia Lempke (Poppenhagen) as born in 1842 and dying in 1921. If somebody has an obit for her in 1907, that would put my information into serious question. Would love to know what you know!
