I am looking for information on the "Sears" family from Greencastle. Harold Sears was my great grandfather. He was born in 1897 and married to Beulah Toney Sears. He had a son Floyd E. Sears born in 1928.

I am also looking for the Sears family in Greencastle. My great-grandmother was Jessie Sears, she married Andy Smith. Their daughter Mary Smith was my grandmother and she married Noah White of Missouri. If you have any connections to these people please let me know. Thank you.

Do you know who harold's grandparents on the Sears side is? I just started working this family and I can't come up with Alvin's parent's to save my life!

I beleive it to be a John Sears born about 1830 in Kentucky. His wife was America Kembly born about 1835 in Indiana. I am not positive these are Alvin's parents. I do not have proof.

Thanks Dawn! I think you're right - I went down to Greencastle today and looked at his death record. His father is listed as being John and his mother is loisted as "unknown." I was thinking that his father was maybe William, but now it is looking like Wm was his grandfather.

I'm helping a good friend research her Sears lines.
Her line was Eva Alice Sears>Jess Sears> Alvin Sears>.
Eva was Darlene's natural mother, but was adopted at birth by a cousin of Eva's named Pauline Sears Waldron. Pauline's father was Alexander and Eliza J. Sears. I think that Eliza's maiden names was also Sears, but I haven't proven that yet.
Alexander was the son of William Sears born about 1822 and died in 1911 & Eliza J. born about 1823 died in 1905. This William and Eliza Sears are buried very close to Alvin and wife and Jess and wife.
I thought Alvin's dad was William for awhile, but now it looks like it is John. Also, do you know anything about Alexander Sears and his wife?
My friend Darlene has some amazing photographs. We're trying to sort through them.
