I am researching the Goodrich family of Alpena. My gr. grandfather was George Henry Goodrich, eldest son of Ransom Goodrich, born Februrary 12, 1822 in Massachusetts and listed in the Canadian 1871 census of Turnberry Township, Ontario as Goderich, married Mary Jane Smith in 1841; Ranson died in Greely, Michigan 24 September 1913. His children are: George Henry Goodrich, born May 1, 1854 in Colborne, Ontario and married to Mary Ann Kerr, thier children Eva Georgina (Manning) , Florence (Fortin), Laura (Snyder), Fredrick, Omer, Edgar); James Marvin Goodrich, born June 1850 in Wingham, Ontario; William Smith Goodrich, born May 1853 in Wingham, Ontario; Lucy Goodrich, born in 1855 in Wingham, Ontario; Cephas A. Goodrich, born June 28, 1858 in Wingham, Ontario; Ransom Frank Goodrich, born August 1862 in Wingham, Ontario; Charles Smith Goodrich, born May 3, 1963 in Wingham, Ontario; Charlotte Goodrich, born est. 1865 in Goderich, Ontario; Rose Goodrich, born est. 1866 in Wingham, Ontario; Daniel Goodrich, born est. 1869 in Wingham, Ontario; Zenas B. Goodrich, born August 1870 in Wingham, Ontario; Selina (Celina) Goodrich, born after 1871 in Wingham, Ontario; Celia Goodrich, born est. 1872 in Wingham, Ontario; and Ida Goodrich, born September 10, 1873 in Wingham, Goodrich. Ransom parents were Marvin Goodrich and Lucy Shed.

I haven't worked on this for a while-Looking for information on deaths of Zenas B. Goodrich & Polly his second wife. Zenas first wife,Almeda Thatcher,died & he remarried Mary Frances(Polly)Andrews(Vessey)Hodley on the 29 Apr 1910-She had been married twice before.It was told that they lived near the Soo or Echo, Canada. She would come & visit her sister, Anna Andrews Brandenburg, in Lachine & my mother remembered her. Do you have any info on their deaths ect? Alpena researcher, Vicki

I am not closely related to the Goodrich family in Alpena, MI, however, a member of my family did marry into the Goodrich family back in what appears to be 1909. A fellow family researcher found that John Marvin Goodrich, b. Jul 1876 in Wingham, Ontario, married Anna May Bates on Oct 12, 1909. They had two children: Lewis Albert & Alfred William.

Did John Marvin Goodrich remain in Ontario or did go to Alpena with his father and some of the siblings. I would like to know more about him and his family. I will share my Goodrich info. with you.

m. Anna May Bates Oct 12, 1909, Wilson Twp, Alpena, MI (license was applied for Oct 11, 1909. John age 20, Anna age 19, residing in Hobson, MI.)
Anna was b. Oct 24, 1890, Alpena, MI d. Aug 18, 1973 in Prince George, B.C. Canada.

I have two children for them: Lewis Albert b. May 17, 1910 & Alfred William b. Mar 16, 1913.

After John passed away Anna married my great-granduncle Francis Wade.

This was relatively new information to me when I faded away from research in the last 1.5 yrs. I am slowly trying to get back into it and have many pages to sort through. For now, this is all I have.
