Jonas G. Nelson and Fannie T. Nelson

My great grandmother and great grandfather were married in Alachua Co. Jonas G. Nelson/Fannie T. Farish April 13, 1876. They had two daughters Agusta and Josephine while living in Alachua Co. They moved to the Tampa area and had a total of 9 children. After, Tampa it seems like they disappeared off the face of the earth. (One census shows Fannie divorced). I'd love to know where they were laid to rest. If anyone has any information, please let me know. Thank you.

Regarding, my "thank you" to you . . .

You are most welcome however, regretfully I do 10 - 20 look-up's each day so without the link to the original, I'm not sure who/what it relates to. If you would please send that link, I would be happy to poke around a bit more for you.

Hi again - having another peek about...

just found a marriage License:

Book "A" - Page 759 of

Alachua County

Fannie Farish
to
George J Nelson
11th April 1876

signed & witnessed by J E Webster, Clerk

signed J H Thomkins
13th April 1876

and recorded 22nd May 1876

Therefore, any death/divorce etc could well be in the name of George rather than Jonas

Looking for deaths - it states that deaths prior to 1927 are "sparse" (understatemenT!)

Cannot find anything (in what I have access to) for either a Jonas or a Fann*

Obviously, if he married again, he might have reverted to "George" and JUST maybe - (keeping in mind the Tampa connection):

GEORGE NELSON
A FARMER
RESIDENT: FLORAL CITY, FLORIDA
BIRTH 10TH AUG 1851
DEATH: 9TH AUG 1926
BURIAL: 10TH AUG 1926
HILLSBOROUGH, TAMPA
AGED 75
A WIDOW (SPOUSE'S NAME LILA)
FATHER: G.E. NELSON
MOTHER: GEOGIANNA BERRY

I could be way off line with this but knowing "informants" knowledge is oftentimes vague - its a maybe as the birth year would tie in etc

still looking...........

the

"Petty B Melson 4 " in the 1910 census is the same as Bryan in the 1900 census - the age should be 14 not 4 as:

Hillsborough County, Florida - 1917-18 Civilian Draft Registration WW1

Nelson, Pety Bryan born 5 Jun 1895 W Tampa, FL # 1

There is a Civil War Pension for

Name: Jonas Nelson
State Filed: Florida
Widow: Mary M. Nelson

cannot read most of it but:

18 .... 1915????
+
19.... 1920??
Application number 1109518 - Certificate No. 1147098
+
ditto 1043891 - ditto 821555

it states:
"After locating an ancestor in the Civil War Pension Index, researchers are urged to request a copy of the casefile referred to by the index.
According to the National Archives, "...the number and type of documents in the Civil War and later series vary greatly from file to file; they are often numerous. The documents of greatest genealogical interest include the declaration of the veteran, the declaration of the widow, the statement of service from the War or Navy Department, the personal history questionnaire, and documents relating to the termination of pensions."

Photocopies of casefile contents are currently requested by submitting NATF Form 85 to the National Archives and Records Administration, Attn: NWCTB, 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20408-0001. You can request NATF Form 85 by submitting your name and postal address, the form number (NATF Form 85), and the number of forms you require (limit 6 per request) to inquire@nara.gov."
