I believe some Lang family members are connected earlier with the Simmons family. Particularly Solomon Simmons, a line that I have been researching for years. I know your aunt and did know your Dad, I think. You are to be commended on the work you have done and are doing with old records. Any thing new on the Symmonds/Simmons/Schenck family? I have made two connections. Contact me. You may have been in touch with the same ones.

The Lang family was related to the O'haver family through marriage. My maternal great-grandmother was O'haver. Any tie to your Lang family?

Noticed you listed the name Schenck in your earlier post. I beleive my ggg grandfather, John Darius Schenck, was born in Parke County in 1855. What is your relation to the Schenck line?

Dear Judith,
I just happen to come across your posting of 2001. I see that you are familiar with family connections between Solomon Simmons and the Lang family.
I have been researching Parke County during the Civil War era for several years now. I came the following names, who were connected politically with Solomon Simmons in 1864: Benjamin A. Lang, James Lang, and Joshua Lang.
Are you familiar with these names and do you know how they may be related to each other and possibly to Solomon Simmons? Any feedback would be very appreciated.
Thank you,
Tim Phipps

Solomon Simmons married Rebecca Schenck 28 Jun 1810 in Butler Co., Ohio. Rebecca was the daughter of John Roelofse Schenck and Mary Harvey. Your John Darius, I believe, is the son of Cyrenius Schenck b 15 Jul 1828 who is the son of Daniel Garret Schenck b. 1796 (brother of Rebecca), son of John Roelofse Schenck b. 1762.
