James Blair and Martha m. on 17 May 1883. From the 1900, 1910 and 1920 censuses, I have the names of six children, but in 1900 Martha is listed with having had 6 children with 6 living and in 1910 with having had 7 children with 7 living. I have the following: Doxsia b. 19 Apr 1884 m. Jacob Albert Price on 3 Aug 1905, Owen co IN; Hulda Blair b. May 1886 (unable to find her in the 1920 census or a marriage for her); Oliver Blair b. 10 Sep 1887; Walter Blair b. 20 Dec 1890; Lottie Blair b. 22 Aug 1894 m. Worth Waldron 14 Jun 1913, Clay co IN; Eva Ruth or Ruth Eva b. 26 Oct 1901, m. Arnold D. Skelton abt 1922. Does anyone have this family in their data? with the name of the 7th child? The only children listed in Owen co births or any IN county for James and Martha were Oliver and Eva Ruth. Does anyone have marriages for Huldah, Oliver and Walter? Thanks for any help. I have a great deal of Blair data to share going back from James.

The seventh child of James and Martha is a mystery to me too. I found info from another Jordan researcher, Roger A. Peterson, (now deceased) that Elizabeth Hulda Blair married an Albert Roy Jordan 1884-1932. Albert was the son of Ezra Jordan and Laura Bell Briley. Albert was a grandson of Jacob Jordan and Nancy Jane Nichols and a great grandson of Reuben Jordan and Nancy Beaman. Ezra and Martha were siblings. I have tried to find Albert and Elizabeth Hulda as a married couple in various on-line databases, but no luck so far.

I have a notation in my records that Elizabeth Hulda was a servant girl in a household in Indianapolis in 1910. I don't know the name of the head of household, however, nor did I jot down the source of the info.

I found that Oliver Blair died on 2Sept1918 of pneumonia (actually most likely a victim of the "Great Flu epidemic of 1918") at Camp Grant, Illinois. He and also his parents are buried in Carolina Cemetery in Owen County. I don't know if Oliver was married.

As for Walter, I found his WWI draft registration (which said he was single) and his SSN (312-28-4331). His SS record states that he died at about age 93 in Dec of 1983. There are some Walter Blairs in the 1920 and 1930 Indiana Federal Census, but I cannot find a definite connection to James and Martha Blair.

Roger Peterson was a dedicated Jordan researcher (and descendant). I once met him at the Owen County Library in Spencer, IN. It was during a trip my wife and I took to Owen County to find Pleasant Grove Cemetery (wasn't easy!) and look for Jordans buried there. I recall driving by Carolina Cemetery but we didn't stop there. Wish now that we had stopped. Hope that there is something in all this that is helpful to you.

The 7th child was Earl A. Beamer b. 1884. He was the son William Beamer and Martha Leila Jordan Blair. As I have it he was born out of wedlock to Martha, but raised and treated as a son of James Blair. I have an old WW1 photo of all three of the boys in uniform. I also have obit of Oliver Blair and all decendants of Walter. Oliver was never married. There are 2 Hulda Blairs, one Amos' daughter by second marriage Nancy Smith, and one a daughter of James and Martha who ran off to Colorado with the Jordan you speak of.

I just found this post (4 years later- lets see if you are still out there!). Elizabeth Huldah Blair (daughter of James and Martha) and Roy Jordan were my great-grandparents. They were first cousins and had just one son, my grandfather, Ed born in Colorado in 1917. Roy had previously been married to an Alta Kress in Indiana, had two kids with her, then came west to Colorado where he was eventually the County Surveyor of Eagle County, and eventually left his wife and had my grandfather with Elizabeth Huldah. My father did not know my grandfather well, so it took a little bit of hunting around to discover the truth about my great-grandparents. Anyway, I'd be interested to hear from anyone descended either from Elizabeth, or for that matter from Roy's two siblings, Ray Jordan and Marie Jordan Saunders. Thanks- Ryan Jordan
