Is this the name of the cemetary you are looking for. I do know of a very old cemetary located in Coosa County in the Rockford area. It is called Lebanon. Could this be the one you are looking for?

No Doris I did not get a picture or anthing except it might be Lebanon Cemetery, appreciate what you can do about a picture and the details on the grave site, THANK YOU ever so much. Am interested in any Paulk's in the area, they might be kin folks. Some of his children probably married as he had an early family and a younger family.

Dear Mickey,
I have been to the true old rockford cememtery. It is not visible from the road - only a green marker the highway department placed beside the highway next to the dirt road indicates where it is at. It is located on Hwy 22 between the Hwy 231 (caution light) intersection going toward Santuck/Equality/Co Rd 9. Traveling on Hwy 22 away from 231 toward Hwy 9 it is about 1/4 mile down on your left (between the water tower and the police radio tower). It is truly hidden by woods at the crest of the hill.
Many believe that the "new" old Rockford Cemetery also located on 22 on the opposite side of the intersection traveling toward Clanton is the "old" one, but in fact it is not. It's often referred to as the town cemetery. Rockford methodist has a few next to the church, but for the most part they are buried in the "new" old one in town.
The true OLD ROCKFORD CEMETERY is horribly overgrown and neglected in really bad shape. There were tall, mature trees growing through many of the graves. Many of the markings have been destroyed - had to be by vandals. Since it is off the beaten path it isn't one of those people just happen by to look at. The sheriff's office said at one time there was a trailer up near the woods, but it is no longer there. What we did find was where someone had made a huge rock circle and was using it to burn items.
The attached is the only true marker for the cemetery - if there had been one earlier it is no longer there. The earliest years I have seen on those buried there for birth was in the late 1700's and the last burial took place in 1949.

PS. I did take pictures while I was there. The conditions of the graves varied - most were unmarked or the headstone had been moved around. I will look for the name, but there are more without stones than with. There had been numerous where they had built the rock or brick mounds, some with slabs and some without but there are no markers with those.

Amy, Thank you for explaining where this is located, and I appreciate very much what you can do about a picture if Uriah or any of his family show on a headstone. His name may have been spelled Euriah as well as Uriah Paulk and believe he was the brother of William Paulk in Chambers Co at the Fairmount Babtist Church, they also were in the older part behind the one next to the Church, and again they were vandalised, terrible sight of such a beautiful headstone.
Many Thanks
Mickey Paulk

Was that the Fairmount Baptist Church Cemetery in Red Level, Covington? I have Moore's that are there and noticed there was a Paulk, William Andrew - b. Nov. 4, 1900 d. May 25, 1933 that was buried there.

Uriah's parents according to One-world were John Paulk and Rachel E. Collins. They also had a son named Micajah Paulk. In the Old Rockford Cemetery with what I have been able to sift thru so far (some of extremely hard to read if they do exist) there is someone there named Micajah Casey. That is one of those rare names that it must tie in some way. Many of the families (mine included) also wound up in Covington Co., Alabama. If you don't already use the www.findagrave.com it can be useful tool if out of state. It relies on participant submissions, but it can help. I will still continue to look - there are over 100 pictures from that day at Old Rockford. I have the unmarked as well...they may not have a name but they are someone's something.
