I am searching for my Grandmothers parents. John Robert Tarver and Annie Bass. My Grandmother Leona Bell Tarver was living with her uncle James W. Tarver and his wife Maggie Wagnor. She is listed as a niece living in their household inthe 1900 Lafayette Parish census. Lot Tarver and his wife Jennie , and their children Euel and Effie are listed on the 1910 Lafayette Parish census. Jennies children, from a previous marriage to Sidney Tarver, are also listed on the 1910 census. Harvey, Ivy, Albert and Mattie. James W., Sidney and Lot were brothers. In all of our years of research we have not be able to verify who their parents were. There is no record of my Grand-mother and Her Sister Laura Bell and her Brother Ira Bird previous to 1900. Any help from anyone would be appreciated.

Sharon, I am also searching for Tarver relatives. In my search I have read somewhere that Annie Bass was a Choctaw Indian. That could explain the lack of information on her.
I am not sure, but I think I also read that John Robert was the second son of Ira Bird Tarver's second wife, Eleanor Green. They married in Harrison County, Mississippi 4/6/1848. You might find more information on them by searching that county's records. I wish you luck.
I am trying to find the parents of Mark Tarver, b. 1775 in Barnswell county, S.C. He is my gggrandfather. In case you ever come across any information on him I would appreciate if you could forward it to me. Another Tarver descendant, Carolyn Tarver Meyer

Hi there! It's many years since you posted your interest in the Tarvers of Lafayette, LA. My grandfather was Harry Warren Tarver. His wife of a few years was Gladys Evelyn Aaron. Harry had two aunts in Chicago with whom Harry and Gladys lived for awhile. My father, Henry Adrion Tarver, was born in Chicago. I found a link to Harry's father, Warren -- but my search ends there. I'm sure we have common relatives. Are you still looking and working on your family tree?
