I am trying correspond with RHONDA KRAMER. She posted a message 7-22-99 concerning Jess Mcquire Skipworth's roll number. She stated she was his grandaughter. I have Jessie McGuire Skipworth born 1839 or 1844 married to Nancy Jane Burnett. They are my gg-grandparents. I am stopped at them on my father's paternal grandmother, Sibbie Skipworth, who is Jessie and Nancy's daughter. If we are talking about the same man, then I need you assistance. I show my Jessie was born in TN. I wrote the TN Bureau of Vital Statistics for birth certificate without success. Please reply and let me know. Thank you very much.

I saw your interest in Jessie Mcguire Skipworth. I have a relative that told me he was related to the Skipworths in Oklahoma. My GreatGreat Uncle came from Clay County Tennesee around 1866 and married Miranda Conley who was born in Putnam County Tenn around 1876. They had several children, one who was Mary Skipworth my grandmother. I want so badly to learn about her husband. I know she married Harve Rounsaville in or around Oklahoma according to the 1910 census in Sequoyah Cnty Okla. I cannot find anything on my grandfather. Anyone who has any connection between this Skipworth/Conley/Rounsaville family please contact me.

Shirley Fiars(??) -- I received your inquiry concerning Miranda Conley's father. To date, there are no Conley's in my line. Jessie McGuire Skipworth was born 1839 and married Nancy Jane Burnett. Jessie's Father was James B. Skipworth, born 1805 and died 1870. I cannot seem to get beyond James B. Skipworth. There are are researchers that speculate that his father could have been John Skipper his mother was Lucretia Hawkins, but to documentation to support this. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Good Luck in your research.

To Shirley Friars (I may have misspelled your name):

I do not have Conley in my genealogical line to my knowledge thus far. The Jessie McGuire Skipworth that is my gg-grandfather was born about 1839 or 1844 in TN. He married Nancy Jane Burnett. Jessie's father was James B. Skipworth born 1805 and died 1870. James B. Skipworth married Mary Polly Rich. I go three more generations back on the Rich side; but, I am stuck at James B. Skipworth. There is some speculation that his parents were John Skipworth or Skipper and his mother was Lucretia Hawkins. I have not found anyone that has any documentation to support their speculations. I think there are about 3 different Jessie McGuire Skipworth lines that are being researched.
I wish I could find some help with my block.
Happy hunting.

Dawn, I have been out of touch for a few weeks. I was in Okla and visited family that is related to Jesse Mcguire Skipworth. I would like to see what you have. I have him married to Nancy Burnett and having a child names Sibbie b.12Mar 1870/D.16 Nov1933 I think she had a brother named James M. Skipworth b 1863 Jackson, Tn I also think jessie's parents were James B. Skipworth b.1805 d.1870 and mom Mary Polly Rich b 1808. The one married to Nancy burnett I think had my greatgrandfather Robert E. Lee Skipworth which married Miranda Susan Conley and had my grandmother Mary Augusta Skipworth(1892-94) I hope this helps. Let me know

Sounds like you had a great trip. Did you get a lot of Skipworth information from the relatives you visited? Where do they live and who are they? Sounds like we are definitely distant cousins!! I am stopped at my ggg-grandfather, James B. Skipworth. Some speculate that his father was John Skipworth or Skipper and his mother was Lucretia Hawkins; but have no documentation to support. James B. married Mary Polly Rich and they had a son, Jessie McGuire Skipworth who married Nancy Jane Burnett. They had Sibbie Skipworth who married John Lee Robert Smith. They had my paternal grandfather, Hurchel Littrell Smith, as well as Frank Lee, Carrie, Jessie M., Jim Roy, Jewel, Ray, A.B. (Frank), and Ruby. Any additional information you have, especially on James B. Skipworth, born 1805, and died 1870, would be most appreciated. Thank you, dawn
