The book, "Ozark Hills Friends and Neighbors 1829-2000" has Antioch Cemetery in it. Who are you looking for?

Thank you for the reply. I am looking for the rest of my family of GREEN & IRELAND. I have Elijah W. Green. James H. Zettie, Forrest Clayton & Ethel Eva Green listed for Antioch.
I have Francis Marion, Eliza E., George N., & Buster Brown, Manary E., Herman Clinton, Thurman Quinton, A. Gertrude IRELAND listed for Antioch Cemetery. Wondering if you have anymore of these families. Do they still sell the book you are using? Thank you for any help you can give me.

The Antioch Cemetery listed in the Ozark Heritage book is probably not the one you are looking for. This one is shown as being in Washington Co. Mo and it had no Green's or Irelands listed.

I did find the Shannon Co. Cemeteries book at the local library. Vol. 1 lists a a Jasper Green Aug. 9, 1866 - Jan. 8, 1942, Reed Cemetery. Vol. 2 lists a Sarah (Melton) Green Died Apr. 7, 1893, Old Baptist Cemetery, Winona, MO.

Obit for Sarah. In the obit her last name has an "e" at the end.
Source: Current Wave-Eminence, Apr. 7, 1893: "Died, at Winona, MO, Apr. 7, at the residence of Dr. Greene, of Fishertown, Mrs. Sarah Melton Greene, at an early age, moved from North Carolina to Tennessee, where she spent the greater portion of her life. About two years ago, she came to this place to spend her remaining days with her son, Dr. Greene.
She was a consistent member of the Christian Church and died with full faith and hope of a Christian's reward. Internment Winona Cemetery".

This may not be your John Ireland but I found an obit dated Nov. 30, 1905, on a Mary Ann Nettles (nee Howell) in which it states her first husband," John Ireland, who is an encounter with Henry Starks, of Texas County, met an untimely death a short while after their marriage". They had one child who noted as the wife of Emmett Scantlon. Let me know if you want the whole obit.

As far as I know, there are no new copies of the Qzark Heritage books for sale. I purchased the books I have from Ken Fiebelman, the author, at his antique store in Salem MO.

Good luck,
Bev

In Memoriam

To those who die in Christ there is no death, but rather an exchange of happier conditions. For many years, Mary Ann, beloved wife of H.L. Nettles, of Jackson township, suffered with distressing and painful ailments finally culminating in that dread disease consumption. On the morning of the 6th inst., in her full powers of mind and with a gentle resignement, she yielded up her spirit and passed to the great beyond. She died with a diadem upon her brow, for she had obeyed from her heart that form of doctrine delivered to the saints and hers was the triumphs of the living faith.

Deceased was a daughter of the late Simeon Howell, so favorably known by the older citizens, and was born Sept. 15, 1856. At an early age she was joined in wedlock to her firt lover, an estimable young man, John Ireland, who is an encounter with Henry Starks, of Texas County, met an untimely death a short while after their marriage. To this union a daughter was born, who is now the wife of Emmett Scanton, a deserving and highly respected citizen of Pratt, Kansas.

Mrs. Ireland remained a widow until 1882 when she again married, this time to H.L. Nettles, and from thence forth together they trod life's highway until she was called hence, at the date above given. Four children were born to them, the first a daughter, died in infancy. Three still live to bless and cheer their grief stricken father in his sad bereavement and declining years. Mrs. Nettles was a devoted member of the Christian Church, an obedient daughter of her parents, she also loved her brothers and sisters, was kind and obliging to her friends, but her husband and children were her earthly all in all. Truly she was an exemplary woman, and those who are grieved at her death can console themselves with the thought that their loss is her eternal gain. She obeyed the Gospel, fought a good fight, finished her course, kept the faith. She has gone to meet her reward.
