I have volume 1 of Behind these Mountains by Mona Vanek. Am willing to do any lookups requested. Interested in whether anyone has volumes 2 and/or 3 willing to do lookups or maybe want to sell? Just provide a name and I'll see what's there. The book mainly concentrates on Noxon, Heron, Trout Creek, Bull River & Smeads, but touches on many other local communities also.

Looking through old postings, and found yours. I'm not familiar with the book you mention, could you give me the approx. years it covers. If what I'm seeking is covered in those years, I'll write again with more information. Thank you.

I moved twice since I posted that message. I'm pretty sure the book is somewhere boxed up, but I'll have to look. I'll let you know.

Hi
Is there any mention of Joseph Stobie or his wife Lucinda, maiden name Anderson or of their children Herbert, James Arthur, Anna Jane, Stuart or Victor Hugo?

Thanks for the lookup
Doris

I have volumes 1 and 2. Sorry to report that there were no name index listings either for Strobie (any) or for Lucinda Anderson. I did not find any of the children's names you listed in either volume.

Volume 1 covers from trapper/pioneer days in the early 19th century to approximately the middle of the second decade of the 20th (1915-16). Volume 2 picks up and covers the area through the early- to mid-1920s.

If anyone knows how I can get a copy of Volume 3 I'd really appreciate your guidance. My family didn't get to Heron until the late 1920s. They're very interesting books.

Surnames: Raynor,
Hi,

I was able to borrow all three volumes through the public library. I was able to purchase volume 1, but the others are very hard to locate, so I went to my local library. They requested volume 2 and 3 from a library in Montana. Sorry I can't remember which one, but you should be able to locate the books from an online search at the library. Good luck on your search.

My mother was a Raynor and grew up in Montana, Washington and Idaho

Is there any mention of the murder of Hiram Otis Walbridge at the hands of his father in law Joseph Carlyle Hunter in 1900 at Georgetown Flats.
