Hayes Presidential Center Library - I need a genealogy angel!

Dear Friends, I'm seeking someone who perhaps regularly visits the Hayes Presidential Center Library in Fremont, to photocopy some obituaries for me. I believe they charge $2.50 per obit by mail, but only 10 cents in person. I understand they have to make money somehow, but I can't quite accept that big a jump in costs, per obit. I can swap services from here in Bergen County, NJ or from the big library in Manhattan, New York Public Library genealogy division. Can anyone help? I only have between 8 and 12 obits but wouldn't mind developing an on-going relationship with someone who may visit that library from time to time. Thanks for reading, and let's advocate genealogical generosity!

I've never found the 2.50 per obit at the RBH to be an unreasonable amount to pay...(I've paid more than that for others). Compared to what I would spend in expenses if I went to the RBH in person, it is a bargain! The response time is surprising...sometimes only a couple of days. Also, when ordering on line through the RBH, sometimes you get MORE than what you pay for. In one instance, an obit couldn't be located, but a very astute volunteer substituted a different piece of information. I would never have known about this information otherwise, and it has been much more valuable in my research than the obit could ever have been.

Have you tried RAOGK ? No volanteers listed for Sandusky County, try a surrounding one?

Dear Friend, My name is Denise and I live in Fremont. I do a lot of reasearch at the R.B. Hayes Library. I can look up the information for you, I can also find information on death certificats at the county health dept. They charge $25.00 for a death certificate, but I have blank forms that I take with me, look up the person and fill in the blanks
Happy to Help!
Denise

Denise, do you still do a lot of research at the RB Hayes Library? If so, would you be willing to do an obit look up for me and email me the info? If so, I could contact you privately - if you can tell me how to do this - and give you the information as well as make payment arrangements. Many thanks for your reply.
Sandy

The price for walk in look ups at RBH Library is actually 25 cents not 10 cents unless your a member which cost $50.00 a year. I do a lot of look ups on here for others at the library since I am a member. I do not charge for my time or expenses. Maybe the next time you could just ask for a look-up without cmmenting on the Library for charging so much, as I would not do a look up for some one who asked the way you did.

I would also like you to know that the RBH Center is a wonderful place for ALL of us to get info and a look into our past ancestors history and lives. They do need funding like every place else and that is how they can continue to keep this wonderful research Library open. JMO
