I have a copy of the will of George Martin of Edgefield, SC. He was my GGGG grandfather. He supposedly died and the will was probated around 1818 (I believe it was actually 1808 with a "skinny" "0"). The will is a typed copy and the information at the end of the will says: Original will not in files of Probate
Judge.
He was married to Alice (
Aly)
Freeman. He was the son of
Abram and Elizabeth
Smith Marshall Martin.
My question is WHERE IS THE ORIGINAL WILL? There is a hand written family history and an oral history of his being in our family, however, DAR will not recognize it because his will was probated after his son (my GGG grandfather) died and names him (my GGG grandfather) as an heir.
Now if the will is incorrect and I cannot see the original, are there other records which would state WHEN George Martin died?
