For Mrs. Margaret Allen

Mrs. Allen is presenting a paper on Joseph AGNEW who was active in Nauvoo in the 1830s and '40s, at the ILL. Historical Preservation Society in Oct.

She has pictures of family members, but is especially seeking a picture of Joseph.

Does any descendant have one please?

My family all comes from the hancock county. Mostly Hamilton and Carthage area. The problem I am having is that most Agnews are from Ireland and france or Scotland. My great-great grandfather Harm Agnew came from Germany. His parents helped him to escape Germany to avoid being drafted by the Kaisers army which was mandatory when a boy turned 17 years old. I can't seem to find anything about him or his family before coming to the states. If you know or hear of any German Agnews I would appreciate it if you would e-mail me at dstaber@ksni.net.

Harm Agnew was my great grandfather. He had 6 sons and 3 daughters. I have not been able to find anything on him either. I do know that he was married to a minnie elaneyer who also came came form Hanover, Germany. Appaently, their families both came over at the same time. (Harm was shortened from (Hiram
