I am trying to help a friend find her husbands connection to Jean Baptiste Barrilleaux and Marie Daigle, the first Barrilleauxes to settle in Louisiana.

yes - my mother yvonne barilleau was from new orleans. Her fathers name was albert and her gradfather was august barilleau. I don't know if this is the same August Barilleau or not? I know he was married to a Catherine Genoti (unsure of spelling) and that's all. I,d like to know more. Hope for a reply. Lary Barilleau

I received your message and will forward it to the friend who is doing her husband's genealogy. We were hoping you or someone else would be able to assist her in connecting her husband's family to Jean Baptiste Barrilleaux and his wife.

Jean Baptiste was the original Acadian Barrilleaux who came to Louisiana in 1785 on one of the seven ships from France sent by the Spanish King. He is the ancestor of all the Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas Barrilleauxes, regardless of the spelling of the name. The original Acadian settler in the 1600's was Nicolas Barillot. As you probably know there are many, many spellings of the Barrilleaux surname. The Barillot/Barrilleaux/Barreau/Barriault/Barilleau genealogist is trying to make the connection between August and Jean Baptiste. I can provide info on my late husband's Barrilleaux line, but have been unable to connect August. Thanks for responding.

I have Ed's book with my husband's ancestry back to Nicolas Barillot.

OUR PROBLEM:
We are trying to discover the name of Paul Barilleau's great grandfather. August Ralph Barilleau is Paul's grandfather.

We are assuming August Ralph descends from Jean Baptiste Barrilleaux and Marie Daigle. However, since we do not have the names of his parents, we are unable to make the connection.

We are trying to find that info here in Louisiana, but would appreciate hearing from other descendants of August Ralph Barilleau's parents, who may have done research and have these names in their genealogy records.
