Hello,
I'm looking for any info regarding my grandfather's family. His name was WILLIAM CHARLES HOGAN, I believe his mother's name was FLORENCE PARKER and her husband was CALVIN. According to my father, Florence and Calvin were tobacco farmers in North Carolina, I believe. My grandfather died in Fayetteville, NC around 1971. My father did not speak alot about his family and has since died. Not sure where to begin from here as I can't seem to locate any of them in any online registries. If anyone has any info or guidance, please feel free to email me at: Lois.Mummer@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks!

I did find a Charles Hogan who died in Cumberland County in 1970, his residence was Richmond NC No other info is given. Did your William Charles go by Charles or William? How old was he when he died? Is this a white or black family? This will help us search the census schedules and find the right person.

Was he a veteran? If so he may have gone to Ft Bragg to be treated at the medical center.

Hello Lucinda,
Thank you for your reply! As far as I know, he went by William C. Hogan. He was originally from North Carolina and was white. He lived in Watertown, NY and Ithaca, NY in the 1930's and 1940's. I found his directory listing in Ithaca, NY as late as 1946, but nothing afterward. I know he and my grandmother divorced around 1949 (she had gone to Nevada to divorce him as it was quicker), but again I have yet to find any paper trail. I believe my father said he was 58 yrs old when he died of heart disease and he was actually a patient in the hospital and was awaiting surgery the next day when he died. I seem to remember my Dad saying he was at the University Hospital of Chapel Hill, but again this was many years ago and my father is now dead.
I know my grandfather worked the US Army, but I don't know if he was "enlisted" or simply worked as a civilian. I believe he was a mechanic.

If anyone finds any other info please feel free to contact me at: Lois.Mummer@sbcglobal.net.

Thank you so much!
Lois
