So has anyone found any further information concerning the elusive William R? I am still trying to find records of his father and thereby tie into the greater Birge line but have not had luck.

Thanks for your reply.... I sincerely hope that you can help me.

I am trying to trace my direct line back from Florida to Alabama to Georgia and have hit a wall at William R Birge. He was born in Oct 1824 in Gwinnett Co Ga and married
Ziltha Yeomans on 9/8/1850 in Sumter Ga. He moved to Dale Co Alabam in 1854 and served in the 57th Ala Infantry. After the war he moved to Holmes County Florida (in 1894) along with family. My line follows and includes David (William R's son) - John - Calvin - Douglas - Scotty (me). Any information on William R, or his line back would be of interest to me.

It is my thought that my line is part of the larger Birge line decended from Richard Birge, but cant get past the one generation from Ga thru probably North Carolina then back to Conn.

Let me know if I can help you any more with any information.

That William Birge was my ancestor. He lived in Connecticut and New York. His son emigrated to Wisconsin in the 1830s.

My great-great grandfather Henry Birge (Michigan) was a brother to William & Leander Birge (Wisconsin). I got this info on a biography done by Waterford Township Public Library on Henry. I had already traced back to my great-great-great grandfather William as he lived w/Henry prior to his death. According to this bio William's father was an Elijah Birge, a officer in the Revolutionary war. He was in Conn. He also lived in Pennslyvania. I have him there in Susquehanna Cty in 1810. I haven't been to library to do any other research since obtaining this bio. I'd appreciate anything further you could give me. My dad was the last Birge in his line. His father was George S. son of Henry, who moved to Kansas in late 1800s.

Hi Marilyn, I have Henry son of William P. and Minerva Fox Birge. His brothers and sisters were William (1813), Leander (1814), Dana (1818), Electra (1820), Esther (1822), Francis (1824), George (1827), John Henry (1829) and Sarah (1837). I have Minerva dying in 1859 in Bridgewater, PA? Where did William father of Henry die? Any dates?

I have William P. Birge father as Ezekiel Birge (1758) born in Hebron Twp., Tolland Co., CT married in 1779 in Hebron to Jerusha Gott.. source: Cutter..
William P. Birge was a clothier and wool comber.

William P. had a brother Elijah but he was born later than the Rev. War. I did not find if Ezekiel Birge was in the Rev War or not. Ezekiel might have been at Susquehanna, PA daughter Mary married there in 1822.

Would appreciate anything you have on Henry and others on that line.

Hi Jerry. I received your message. Henry was my g-g grandfather. He was born 24 October 1816. I have tracked him and his father William in census. William went to Michigan and lived with Henry. He died approximately 1875. My grandfather Clyde & g-grandfather George S. Birge are both buried in Kansas. My Dad had told me his father was born near Pontiac, Michigan. Luckily the Independence, Mo. library has all census records. After I posted that message, I went to Arizona to see my sister, and met a lady who does genealogy. She pulled up Henry's biography off the Waterford (Mich.) library. I'd be happy to send you whatever I have. Who is your ancestor?
