Is this the John Bibby who changed over to the side of the British and was captured at Kings Mountain? He was tried as a prisoner at Biggerstaff's in Rutherford County and found guilty of crimes against the state of North Carolina because of fighting against the Americans under Ferguson's Loyalist troops. He along with eight others were hung there on the 14th of October 1780.
