Offer/Question Zwevezele/Wingene Struyve

Goodafternoon everybody,
I posted a question on the general board for information on a possible US relative of mine. In that message I also offered assistance for people trying to find ancestors in Zwevezele or Wingene West-Flanders. This offer might be particularly interesting to the people in this board. Of course I would appreciate also if anyone could try to help me with my own question.
Sincerely,
Roel Struyve
Zwevezele, Belgium

HI Roel....

Maybe (I hope) we can help each other...I am looking for a VERKRUYSSE (VerCruysse maybe?) family originally from the Zwevezele, West Vlaanderen area. I am sorry I dont know anything about this area. All my relatives who carry on this name are gone. There were 3 boys I KNOW of; their parents were
Jean VERCRUYSSE & Celina DESMOUERON (unsure of that spelling)
- their sons......

Alfred - 1853 -1916 (died in Maine, USA)
Pierre - 1856 - ? (believe died in New Hampshire/Vermont, USA)
Victor - 1865 - died on the Titanic - oldest Belgian man on the ship.

Alfred is my great great grandfather - his death certificate just says "born in France"

Wish I knew more. I know that Pierre served in the French Foreign Legion - booklet say FROM Lannoy, Nord, Roubaix, France......not necessarily born there tho...

I have been trying to figure out what my next move should be here..if you can help, it would be apreciated...ALSO I would love to help you...is there something you would like me to try to find here?

regards,
Laurie

Hello Laurie,

Thanks for the reply. I'll see what I can do for you concerning your Vercruysse ancestors. I'm pretty confident I can find out some more information for you. Give me a couple of days. I do have a certain lead in the US I would like to find out something more about where you could maybe help me out, but I don't have the facts at hand here. I'll let you know ASAP. Could you give me your emailaddress so I can send any new info directly to you instead of putting it all on the board?

I am looking for relatives of Carolus Ludoviens Meuninck born in Wyngene January 24, 1856. I know he was married on April 21,1889 to Rosalie Melanie Vanbiesbrouck. They emigrated to the United States but I believe some family stayed in Belgium. Can you help me or tell me where I can write for information?
I am also looking for relatives named Boucquaert or Bouequaert who lived in Aalter. How can I get information about them?
Thank you for any help you can give me!

Hello Jackie, (would that be Mr or Mrs?)
I'll see what I can find out for Wingene. Could you tell me: are you looking for the further ancestors of Meuninck and Vanbiesbrouck or are you trying to find still living relatives?
Could you please mail me all data about this couple and their relatives that you might have already collected. All details might help in the search.
For Aalter I can't really help you myself but if you have a more particular question I could post it on a genealogy bulletin board here in Belgium.
Have a nice day,
Roel Struyve

Dear Roel,
Thank you for your offer to help. I have learned that Carolus Meuninck was born in 1859. This record was from Ruiselede. His marriage license said Ruiselede and Wyngene so I was confused what that meant. I was also able to learn he lived on a street named Axpodwyk. Do you know if that is in Ruiselede? His father's name was Leo. I would like to know when and where Leo was born and who his father was.
My main interest is to go back as far as I can. Later I will do a horizontal search to see if any of the Meunincks still living in Ruiselede are related.
Thank you again.
Jacqueline

Looking for Leopold Vercruysse (or alternate spellings) born in France or Belgium. He is said to have come to the U.S. in 1873 and settled in New York City area.

Hi,
Just read your question today. Any idea where Leopold came from? The name Vercruysse is something like Smith or Jones over here so it's a bit worse then looking for a needle in the proverbial haystack if you don't have any placenames. Maybe something's to be found trough the Ellis island site? Please let me know if you have extra information.
Cheers from Belgium

Hello - I am fairly new to these boards and was wondering if you found any information on Boucquaerts? My maternal great-grandparents came from Ghent and Bruges -Alphonse and Matilde Boucquaert- in 1920 and I would think we might be related somehow.....
Thanks
