I am looking for all descendants of MONTEAU brothers. These brothers (one may be a half brother or a cousin?), came to Louisiana from France. All three settled in Vermillion Parish.

MONTEAU is also spelled variously as MONTEAUX, MONTAUT, MONTAULT, MONTANT, and possibly MANTOUT, MONTAU, MONTER, MANTEAU, MANTEAUX, MANTAU. I will use MONTEAU in this message as if it were the correct spelling. I will also use Abv.to abbreviate for Abbeville

Some of the names in the surnames listed at the head of this message are the names of families into which the daughters of these first Abbeville MONTEAUs married.

I am descended from Marie Montaut (fourth daughter of Jean Marie) She married my gr-gr-gr-father (Lafayette Harrington) and moved to High Island, TX. We do not know what happened after that to her. Any info you can provide will be helpful.

Jean Marie Montaut and Olivanie Hebert had 2 daughters with the first name Marie. One was Marie Emetilde Montaut. I show her as married to Alfred Harrington. Is this the same as Lafayette, or are they brothers, cousins...?

Actually, she married Lafayette (Fate) Harrington, my gr-gr-grfather. They later moved to TX where my gr-grfather was born.

My family came from Winnie high island area to. Emmit Monteau was my grandfather and my dad is berry Monteau. What a small world. I'm going to update my profile and do some research.
