Hello:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inarajan,_Guam
Inarajan, Guam
The Dandan region of Inarajan was the site of a NASA Apollo tracking station and is currently the site of the proposed landfill for Guam replacing the Ordot Landfill.

Interesting:
Guam Department of Public Works (DPW) and Guam Environmental Protection Agency (Guam EPA) are tackling one of our island’s major issues...managing our solid waste. Where does our trash go after it leaves our homes, schools, and businesses? Today, it goes to the Ordot Dump. But DPW and Guam EPA are working to change that.

Both agencies are cooperatively engaged in the process of siting a new municipal solid waste landfill facility (MSWLF) for Guam. The opening of a municipal solid waste landfill facility will allow DPW to close the Ordot Dump and make positive, environmentally-sound changes in the way we deal with solid waste on our island.

In March 2004, DPW and Guam EPA identified three proposed landfill sites through a scientifically based screening process:

Lot No. 450-4, Lonfit, Asan
Lot No. B-3-REM, Dandan, Inarajan
Lot No. 177-4-R2 and others, Sabanan Batea, Yona

The Government of Guam is now involved in preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the siting of a landfill facility at one of these three sites. Duenas & Associates, Inc. leads an interdisciplinary project team contracted to perform investigations of the existing environment at these sites, characterize the necessary landfill facility components, and prepare the EIS document. The project team’s efforts will result in a Final EIS completed on or before December 7, 2004.

I'd thought any DUENAS researchers might be interested in the above link.

Chuck, I suppose if you're needing exact date of closure you can always contact NASA - <G>.

Thank you, kind Sir, for your enquiry and let us know your thoughts.

Regards,

I worked at the site from 1978 to 1981 and at other sites until 2001. The NASA Tracking Station Dandan was closed in the early 1990s after the Tracking Data Relay Sattilite System (TDRSS) came fully on line.
In the late 1990's NASA built a remote TDRS ground terminal near Dededo to support new capability over the Indian Ocean
