Hopkin Morris born c. 1826
I am trying to trace the parents of Hopkin Morris born about 1826 in the district of Llangyfelach, Glamorgan. More specifically I believe he was born at Cathelyd Uchaf farm in Craigcefnparc. Hopkin married Esther (born c. 1830) around 1850 and had numerous children, the eldest of which were Isaac b. 1851, and John and David b. 1852. Does anyone have access to the 1841 or 1851 and could locate Hopkin Morris on there as maybe his parents lived at the same address. Thanks.

I gleaned the following information from the SS David & Cyfelanch Parish records booklets. Hopkin Morris was baptized on 8/27/1826. His parents were Isaac Morris and Anne Jones. Isaac was a farmer. [Thus the Isaac Morris in the 1851 census was named after his grandfather.] Isaac and Jane were married 2/8/1823. The family was living at Erthrimgenol. Only other child in the records was Rachel Morris baptized 5/30/1824. At that time family was living at Cythylyd. No other information on Isaac Morris.
However, there is plenty of info on Anne Jones and her family. Anne was baptized on 4/25/1802. Ann's parents were Richard Jones and [probably] Catherine Hopkin. [I think the name Hopkin cements the connection with Catherine.] They were married 8/24/1794. Other children were Catherine, baptized 12/26/1798, Edward, baptized 12/19/1815, and John. [They are two John Jones born around 1800 whose father was a Richard Jones. However, at that time the mother's name was not recorded.] No further concert info on Richard Jones other than he was a farmer. Catherine Hopkin was baptized on 8/16/1772. Her father was John Hopkin. Other children of John were Elinor, baptized 5/14/1777, Elizabeth, 3/26/1774, and John, 4/22/1770. No further concert info Catherine's father. I suspect that one could trace her sibling's and their kids from the parish records. If you are interested, you can obtain the parish records from the Glamorgan Family History Society. They have a website, just do a search.

Got a chance to look at the 1841 and 1851 census for Glamorgan.
In 1841: Isaac [age 40, farmer], Ann [age 50, looks like a second marriage], Rachel [15], Hopkin [14], Catherine [10]
In 1851: Isaac [age 54], Anne [60], Catherine [21]. Isaac was a farmer of 30 acres with one employee [Isaac Jones]. Isaac was born in Llannon,CMN. I believe CMN is Carmartenshire.
That is all I have

I am really quite interested in this. you see, in my family tree of Morris, there is a Demaris or Damaris Hopkins, sister of Steven Hopkins who landed at Jamestown VA. She married a William Shattuck and they had a dau who married an Isaac Paige and they had a son who who married another shattuck . They then had a damaris who married a morris into my line. a John Morris.
now in this post i find so many of the names of that line, from Hopkins, to Isaac to Morris and it makes me wonder of a ancestral connection.
they were quakers and immigrated to America during the time of Charles King of England. in the 1500-1600s.
if anyone has any connection or idea can you please contact me.
