I am doing extensive research on Bells Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Cemetery, Gibson County, TN, and civil district 8. I am willing to share any information, and hope to find more. Many of the elder members have been very informative. The Church was organized in 1875 has a very interesting history. It is said the members are 1 of 2 things, family or foreigner. I have always heard that most of the people buried there, could be connected through family or marriage. My research is based on that concept, and I have concluded that it is a fairly reasonable statement. I will be the 7th generation of 14 Direct ancestors 2 parents 2 grandparents 2 G-Grandparents 4 GG-Grandparents 3 GGG-Grandparents 1 GGGG-Grandmother not to mention the endless number of cousins, aunts and uncles, etc. The church burned in 1979, and most records were lost. Additionally, as with any cemetery, many never had headstones, and some of the older stone are long gone. I have been able to identify several that are buried there, without a stone. Would love to find more! My goal is to provide the church with as much information that I can gather regarding each individual buried there, including their extended family.
