James,

I have a James M. Cook that was a brother of my John E. Cook. They both were born in the early 1820's apparently in Jefferson Co. Ga and migrated to Barbour County, AL and Pike County, AL. Was he the one that migrated to Texas?
I am compiling information on their father James Thomas Cook. I am looking for records in Sampson County, NC. There were several Cooks in Turkey Township in North Carolina but I have yet to been able to correlate them to my John Thomas Cook.

Would anyone know the place of burial, either in Barbour County, AL or Pike County, AL (I am not sure if the borders between Pike and Barbour Counties have changed any during the 1850's but Federal Bureau of Land Management records indicate that John T. Cook purchased some land in 1841 on NW 1/4 of SW 1/4 of Sec 10, Township 11N and Range 24E which I believe is near the present day Barbour-Pike border ) of the before mentioned John Thomas Cook who died June 1, 1858?

This is what I have:

1850 Census Pike Co., Al.
#1095 John Erwin Cook 27 Ga.
Catherine 24 Ga. (d. Jan 27, 1856)
Delila 1 Al.
#1097 James M. Cook 29 Ga. (John's Brother ?)
Elizabeth 24 Ga.
Alen 3 Al.
John 1 Al.
#1098 George P. Cook 23 Ga. (John's Brother?)
Darkis 16 Ga.
Wm. 1 Al.

Mother's name was Charity, listed in the 1860 and 1880 Census living with John E. and 1870 living by herself.

Tersa A. Brunson married John on Jan. 10, 1857

Martha Savannah was one of her children by him.
Martha married a Newton J. Brunson first, then married Charles C. Brooks. son of Joel N. Brooks. I descend from Joel and Sammual.

I'm looking to verify John E. Cook's father.

Wayne,

I am a descendant of Grover Cleveland Cook, Martha's younger half-brother.

Thanks for the info. It had been a while since I posted here last, and I have acquired additional info on John Cook's family going back to the 1790s in Sampson Co, NC if interested.

I still dont have John E Cook's place of Burial, if you happen to have info on that.
