My great grandfather was Frank Atkins who was on the KY census in 1920. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Woodall? and they had four children; Benjamin Dexter-my grandfather (b7-5-1899)(d9-6-66) (m. Laura Bell (my grandmother died in 1935 then Mrytle) Samuel, William and Rosa (b1903) who married Frank Peyton Hasty. Frank and Mary Elizabeth originally were supposed to have come from Union County, Tenn but I am not sure when. She is Cherokee Indian and had a brother named Ollie. I am trying to find information on Frank and Mary Elizabeth and would appreciate any help you can offer.

Amy,

Do you have more information on your grandfather (i.e. name, born, died, marriage info, etc.)? I also have an Adkins/Atkins line connected with Cherokee.

I wonder if anyone on this topic of Adkins and
Cherokee's has any connection to the John Adkins and
Mary/Polly Choate line? Polly was also said to have
been full blooded Cherokee, therefore her children
being half blooded. I have the descendancy on John
Adkins, b. ca. 1800. If anyone discussing this is
related to this line, or if you want to know if your
line is from this descendancy, please let me know.
We are trying to find out more info on Polly Choate,
but she is listed on the Dawson Rolls

Amy,

Looks like there's no connection. I don't have a Sammy in my line. Good luck in your search!

I'm doing research on my dad's side of the family. I started doing this long time ago, but ran into a stand still. Also money problems I want to trace back as far back as I can
I lost my husband 2years ago to cancer and as of march of this year I lost my daughter to Leukemia.
As of October of 1998 My daughter had twin girls and also she has a 6year old boy. Also as of May after my daughter died my son had a little boy.
So this is why I'm trying to research My family so I can leave this to them.
I'm also researching my mother's side of the family too.
I would appreciate any help you can give me.
It's not easy losing any of your family, but at least I can do this for them.

I would like to know more about this line. Still trying to connect my ADKINS to a Cherokee line. My ADKINS took a lot of research to find that a] it is spelled both ways even in legal documents, b] right now I am stuck in GA with a David Atkins who had a son named Alexander b GA ca 1830 c] who had a son named Robert ADKINS (yes ADKINS) b 1854 we think TX. Robert went my Tom his entire life. Don't ask me why. In a 1902 Clay Co TX court case he is listed as Robert Atkins. It was the right one because his brother in law at the time mentioned in the court case is only the second surname in America to this day to come here from Germany.

Confusing line I have, but I try to trace down all leads. The other side of my line is already Cherokee but we know there is a connection through ADKINS or SHANNON- just have to find it.
