Trying to identify the parents of Abram FAIRFIELD, b. Ontario, 13 Mar 1824. Migrated to Allegan County, Michigan 1850/54. Had children: Celia, James, George, John Franklin, Charles, Mary, Abraham Myron, Jessie Bell, Eugene, William.

Married Mry Ottene or Otten or Oatney 1854.

I too am looking for Fairfield of Canada. One reference said Canada French. I am looking for the parents of James H. Fairfield, born 1859 in Allegan, MI. He is not listed as one of Abraham's children, so perhaps his father is a brother of Abraham. Do you know if Abraham had any siblings?

I show James b. 1859, d. 1922 as the 2nd child of Abram Fairfield and Mary Otten. Celia is his older sister - and the line I follow.

Abram did have a brother James, who is residing with the family in 1860.

Thank you. As a beginner I need more help. I found Abram Fairfield, born in Canada, living in Allegan, listed in the 1880 census. His children are listed as:George, Charles, Myron, Mary, Jessie, Eugene and William.

James and Celia are not in this list.

How do I find the correct Abram Fairfield

In 1880, Celia had already married and James was working on a farm for Nicholas Ashley. He married in Dec 1880.

In looking for data on Mary (Abram's wife), the 1880 census shows her father's birthplace as Baden (I assume Germany). Any further information that comes in will be interesting to you and to me.

I do not have the parents name of Abram Fairfield, I can tell you that he married and OTTENY. Maybe this might help to narrow the search.

This spelling is a variant of OTTENI (orginal spelling) and OATNEY.

Parents are Henry (perhaps John H) and Barbara Fairfield. Henry b. abt 1783 in Ireland. Barbara b. abt 1798 in Pennsylvania. 6 or 7 children of record, b. in or near Grimsby, Ontario. Data came from Grimsby Archives. It is from what they call a "Super Census" with the 1861 Canadian Census as the base. This census is not digitized.

Could John H be John Henry?

I have been unable to learn Barbara's maiden name.
