Hi,

I am looking for information on a John Rademy who lived in Millmerran from around 1925-ish. I am trying to find a connection between this John Rademy and one who worked as a station manager at Mabel Downs in the north-west of Western Australia around 1916.

Cheers,
Stacy.

Hi Stacy,

I think he is probably the same person. It seems he returned to NSW around 1921 and married Elizabeth Annie WEBSTER. His mother Johanna also died in 1921 and amongst the children named in a 1922 memorial notice are "John and Annie, Western Australia." From 1925 John and Elizabeth Annie appear on electoral rolls in Queensland.

Both Johns were station managers, both stood for local council and parents' names on the 1958 Queensland death reg. are the same as the other children mentioned in Johanna's memorial notice.

Hi Debra,

Thanks for that. I found reference to John returning to QLD from WA due to his niece becoming ill, but looks like that probably was his mother. I've found pictures of John Rademy's grave in the Drayton/Toowoomba cemetary... I'll dig deeper to see which on it was (Father or Son).

Cheers,
Stacy.

Thanks for that Gerry, it helps to constrain the timeline from when John left the Kimberley region. I cannot find the WA PO Directory - is it special access?

Hi Stacy,

You can access them on the State Library's website.

Thanks for that. Going through the records, they show two separate entries for a J. Rademy. One was a station manager at Turkey Creek from 1916-1927 and another was station manager at Lissadell/Texas Downs from 1920-1925. The former has "Jno" attached to the entry which I presume means John[1], so it seems he was a busy person.

Cheers,
Stacy.
