Hi, I have an Adonis Arthur Albert Whybrow, probably born Dublin 1863. He was career Army, joining East Kent Militia at 15/16, then serving in Royal Surrey Regiment in India, where he married a Welsh girl then as Sergeant INstructor in Royal Welch Fusilliers on 1901 census. I believe his Father to be Charles. Any info greatfully received. Cheers & Happy New Year.

This morning I went to a graveyard in Mold Flintshire North Wales and took a picture of a headstone of an old soldier and then googled his name and found your message some details differ but I think they are the same person, the headstone reads: ARTHUR ALBERT WHYBROW (SGT MAJOR R.W.F) WHO DIED JANUARY 12 1927 AGED 63 YEARS WHEN THE NEXT BUGLE SOUNDS I WILL RISE AND MARCH AGAIN ALSO CATHERINE ANN BELOVED WIFE OF THE ABOVE. The age and birthdate are similar, his wife sounds welsh and it makes sense he could have been a sgt major, also on the genes reunited site it seems he is living in a Holywell there is a Holywell a few miles from Mold the birthyear is 1864 and place of birth is High Seas these details are from the 1911 census. It's possible he stopped using Adonis. Hope this helps.

Hi, That's him alright. I found a record of his birth in the Army records. That is where I believe the 'High Seas' came from. His wife died back in 1946.
If at all possible I would appreciate a look at the picture.

Regards
John
