verocica i got your e mail but, your email was not correct i could not send you an e mail so i'll just write it here. i am 25 i was born feb,26,1974 in virginia. all of my family were born and raised in maryland. my father was ralph l smack of maryland,brn.10/15/45.his father was richard thomas smack born in maryland 12/12/1920.my great grand father was albert.thomas smack born in maryland 1892.his father was cyrus h smack born in maryland 1871.now i have been researching for about 2 years ,and i know through family that the last name is one family but, when cyrus father had slaves on the property he freed them all and he also gave them his last name but there are still many more reasons why? are familys are connected i was told that in the 1600's 3 smacks came over as natives from holland Ujectht now these 3 guys married, 1 hendricks mathaous smack married native 2 cornnielous smack married black,3 hollad smack married native.and at this time if the persons skin was not so called white they were atomactly raced as african american.so if you really want some info on any smack dating back to 1570 i do have all census for every smack in virginia maryland ect. so hope to hear from you soon.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paticia:

You are not going to believe this, but I m JUST NOW reading your post. I was going up and down the message board feeling very frustrated, because it seemed most of you were connecting and I couldn't find any connection! I even started to doubt that I was a "SMACK" (had to look at my birth certificate to convince myself - LOL!). Anyway, there I was feeling very Smack-less, and then I clicked on your post (by accident no less)...you see, I thought I had read all the "Maryland Smacks" posts, and then Voila!... there you were filling my heart with hope. I felt very connected while reading your post... in fact, I feel very conected to you and Nancy (hope you don't think I am strange... but my spirit usually lets me know who I am connected to). I would be most interested in seeing your census atleast maybe I could find out where I fit in the scheme of things. That is very interesting about the 3 brothers!!!! I would love to hear more about them. Anyway, please e-mail me at either of the following addy's: Virsage2@webtv.net or vjames@ipro.org. Looking forward to hearing from you, and please forgive me for not seeing your message before now - but atleast you know I wasn't ignoring you. Thanks again. Much (Family) Love, Veronica

I was wondering if you have any info on Smacks that had a family farm in Snowhill, MD. Anno (Anne) Smack is my great grandmother. She died in Martin County, FL. I am trying to research my family's ties to native american heritage and to complete our geneology for my kids.

My grandmother, Effie Mae Smack Adkins, had a sister named Anna. Not sure if Anna was from Snow Hlll, but I think she was. Mom Mom also had brothers, Elton, Will, and Jack, and I think another sister named Minnie.
