I am looking for information on an Odell Mixon, having a daughter Martha and a son John of TN. Some of the family migrated to Mi. I am his great-great grandaughter and my mother was adopted out of the Mixon name. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I had an Aunt Odell whose maiden name was Mixon. Her sister Daisy Pauline Mixon was my grandmother. She was born in 1884 but I do not know where. She married Walter Luther Carlisle in 1900.

Odell's parents were: G.M. Mixon and L.B.
(Lizzie)Cummings who were married in 1880. Their children were:

Rosetta: 11/1/1881 - 5/11/1968
Julius: 1/3/1883 - 12/1979
Daisy Pauline: 2/26/1884 - 1/15/1980
Lillian May: 10/4/1886 - ???????
Adis Cleveland: 6/9/1893 - 5/18/1962
Alice Odell: 2/7/1898 - 1981
She was called Odell.

We know:

Lizzie Cummings was from Mississippi and her mother and father were:
Lucintha Turner and Willis Cummings.

George Mixon's father was from Alabama and his mother's maiden name was Wells.

The Mixon's came to Texas when Daisy was 9 years old.

We do not know counties so are search is very difficult. If any of these folks are familiar or you have any information that might aid us, it would be greatly appreciated!

Mattie Pearl Mixon was born in Tyler, TX in 1899? Father Jehu Mixon, brother Leber Mixon lived in Tipton, OK, sister Alma lived in CA. (Bakersfield area) other siblings in TX Panhandle area, can't recall names. Please any info to locate family most appreciated.

The ODell I am searching died in CA. He had a wife Lula. We are caucasion, but it is not entirely impossible that there is a link here. My grandmother is his daughter Martha. I have a list of all of ODells known children: Loyd Ray Mixon, robert Roy Mixon, Martha Ludell Mixon and John Daniel Mixon. His father was John Mixon married to a Rachel. ODell's siblings I have as: Ronny Mixon, Roger Mixon and Audrey Mixon. This is were I come to a dead end. Please let me know if there is a link. Thanks for responding.

shannon this is a coincidence but I also have a uncle robert mixon, odell mixon and john d mixon and my father is john henry mixon. the last known address i have for odell is oakland, Ca but we'll African American and American Natives. Odell has a daughter named Martha who lived in Oakland and San Francisco. I'll do more research stay in touch,cousin michelle(smile)

according to daughter's birth certificate, melvia elizabeth, daisy pauline was born in Attalla County, MS

Alma is my Grandmother, born in Tipton 1911, Mattie born 1899 in Melder, LA., Leber born 1906 in Eula, TX. I understand their sister Jewel is still living near Littlefield, TX. There were 13 children born to Jehu B Sarah Mixon from 1892 to 1912. Info found in a bible belonging to their sister, Eula Mixon Smith. Hope this helps in the search.

I found these Cummins' at familytreemaker.com--the Descendants of William Cummins. My g grandfather was Willis Cummin(g)s from Neshoba Co. MS but originally from Attala Co. Ms. My g grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Highsaw. b. about 1873. My g grandfather married Mary Elizabeth Highsaw and also later married Sarah Elizabeth Standard. I am not sure which one of these is the "Lizzie" Cummings on the 1920 Neshoba Co Census as I am not sure of the date that Willis and Sarah Eliz. got married but it is one of them.

Lucinda Turner and Willis Cummin(g)s were from Jefferson Co. Alabama. Willis was originally from North Carolina. They were married in 1843. Information from familytreemaker says they were moved to MS in 1853 to Attala Co.
