I have been able to find my great grandfather, Logan W. Brauchla who was born in Franklin Co., IN Dec. 6 1863, and that he married Emily Jane Fry who was born in Franklin Co., IN in 1867, but I haven't been able to trace it back past him. I have been able to go in the Fry family, but not the Brauchla family. I know they had 4 sons as one of them was my grandfather, Dr. Henry Carl Brauchla. The only other info I know is that at one point in time the name was spelled "Brauchle". Any help would be appreciated.

Hi brenda. Am not researching this family and have no other info, just trying to be helpful. In the 1880 census for Indiana, Franklin county, Bath township, ED77, page 2, there is a family headed by George Brauchla sr, 49, farmer. Included were his wife, Sarah, 46,keeping house, his dau Sarah E, 22, his dau Christine, 26, son George jr, 18, farmer, son Logan W, 16, farmer, son August, 13, at home, son Anrest, 9, son Charles, 3, and Mother Margaret, 73. All were born in Indiana except for George sr and his mother who were born in Baden (German province). Sarah's parent were born in NC. Good luck. Don ps: Found another person who is researching this family. Name of Jimmy Lamb, address is JL5946@aol.com

not sure if you are still interested in additional information or if you have already discovered what you needed. my husband and i have an article about George Brauchla (Logan's father) that was printed in The Brookville Democrat, June 10, 1915. It includes a photo of George and a biography including listing his children (Sara Elizabeth who became the wife of William Brown. Christina who married Jacob Klein. John George who married the daughter of Jacob Urban. William Logan Brauchla married Miss Emma Frye, daughter of Henry & Sarah Frye and moved to Huntington County. August Brauchla died in 1886 at 21 years. Ernest Brauchla married Nellie Anness (died 3/24/12). Ernest resided on what was known as Henry Frye's farm which was purchased by George for Ernest. Charles Sumner Brauchla (my husband's great grandfather)was born in 1875 and married Tillie Lackey. Very interesting. (My husband is a great-great grandchild of George who immigrated from Baden, Germany). You may contact me if you would like a copy of photo/article.

Brenda and Julia,

Charles Sumner Brauchla's son Morris married my great aunt Frieda Personette, and they had three children (Leatrice Joy, Randell Wayne and Melvin.) I have more details on this family if you're interested.
