A broadsheet published in 1900 by James Robert McKee and entitled "American Genealogy of the Allied Families of McKee, McClintock, Mills, Stipp, and Stewart" is available for viewing on the Library of Congress Digital Interlibrary Loan website at <www.loc.gov/rr/loan/illscanhome.html>; I had trouble accessing the site and the broadside was very slow loading in the PDF format. In addition it is very large so the print is small. I finally enlarged it enough to read and find it did not contain my McKees. It is the genealogy of John McKee, born in Ireland, who came to Charleston about 1775 from County Monaghan, Ireland. He married Polly McCoy in Virginia and settled in North Carolina. John was killed in 1780 in the war. John's friend, Thomas Shaw, took the widow back to Virginia and later married her and moved to Bourbon, KY. There is an article in the April 2006 issue of "Family Tree Magazine", p.76 describing interlibrary loan and mentioning the availability of materials from the Library of Congress including some noncirculating items such as this broadsheet. Hope it helps some other McKee researchers. Nancy M. Smith

I managed to get one copy out of my three. Since they were over 100 years old and very crumply, I managed to get one good paper and have sent it to Kinkos to get copied. So let me know if ya want one.. Charge would be $5.00 for copy and postage....thanks....lydababes@aol.com

Hi

I am descended from the Robert Stewart and the McKees of Rush county. Would appreciate a copy of the genealogical paper you described. Let me know the cost and I will be glad to send the money. Charles

Charles,
I had to re-read my message to see what this refers to. It will take some research to see if I still have a copy. The Library of Congress link no longer works (if it ever did). I have made a cross country move since then so I'm not sure what I will be able to find. I should be able to find the Family Tree Magazine that first led me to it. I'll dig and see what I can find.

I tried to send the web address, but forgot ancestry erases anything you put in those brackets. I went to the Library of Congress web site. I chose Virtual Programs and Services. I typed McKee genealogy in the search and it brought up a new page with 21 listings and another search space. I typed McKee genealogy broadsheet in this search and James Robert McKee's broadsheet was the first entry. When I clicked on that entry, it came up on the screen. I think this would be the easiest way to share this, as it is much too large for me to print out on my printer. I hope this works for you.

Thank you Nancy
With your clear instructions I was able to find the sheet. I could not find a clear connection between my McKees and Stewarts and those on the sheet, but suspect there must of be some in view of the migration pattern, so will keep looking. Again thanks for your help.

The location on that website may have changed. Click on the link to the website again (see below for your convenience):

http://www.loc.gov/rr/loan/illscanhome.html%3E

The Library of Congress website appears and says Page Not Found. Type all or part of the name of the article into the search box that is on the top right of the page. Do not put it in quotation marks. If you do, you probably will get no results. Without quotations, you will find the document. Choose the web version, and you will get the pdf file.

The name of the article is American genealogy of the allied families McKee, McClintock, Mills, Stipp and Stewart. Comp. by James Robert McKee. It is a single, newspaper type page.
