Hey there!
I have a little bit of info on Menawa. He was born around 1765 and was the Chief or the Upper towns. The English called him "Big Warrior". He came to Indian Territory in 1836. His brother was Opothleyahole (whom was my forefather) their parents were a British trader by the name of Weatherford and his mother was Alexander McGillivry sister of the "famous" William McGillivry. (ref. a guide to the indian tribes of okla. pg 132.) That's all I have on my research so far hope it helps. Big Warrior was not as famous as Opothleyahole. But I'm sure if you look up both you"ll find out more. Kellie

I live in Tallassee, Alabama where the Great Council Tree stood at Tukabahchi. I did research and wrote an article about a year ago about Tallassee's part in the Trail of Tears and after the article a descendant of Menawa contacted me. She promised to send me data and I will hve to hunt her address but maybe she can give you data. Myra

I would like to correspond with anyone who may have genealogical information about Bunnie Manawa, a Creek Indian man on Dawes Card #2300. I would like to know more about his maternal grandmother, Amy McGilvray. Other family names include Lewis McGilvray, Thomas and William Harvison, Tobe Belcher. Thanks for any contacts or suggestions!
