Died of drowning in Tar River on 13 Oct 1971; body was recovered on 28 March 1972. Would appreciate any info that may have been published in a local newspaper regarding his disappearance and the discovery of his remains. I am inquiring for his daugher, who was a small child when this happen and would like more information than is present on his death certificate.

Try contacting the Braswell Memorial Library in Rocky Mount. I have always had wonderful help from them. I am not sure what newspaper collection they have but I am sure they can refer you to a place that would if they don't have articles on the drowning and finding of the body especially since you have dates.
